BUSY SUMMER ON THE GREAT MIAMI

Under the direction of Don Durrough, FSO-Ops for Flotilla 5-4, no fewer than seven patrols were held on the Great Miami River this Summer allowing Boat Crew and Coxswains from several local units to qualify or continue their qualifications and numerous members to log their required underway hours. Two QE sessions provided currency maintenance checks for Don and Faye Durrough, Mort Mullins, Cameron Cord, Warren and Billie McAdams and George Groene. In addition, Dennis Mullins was initially qualified as Coxswain.

In addition, a Public Affairs Booth was provided during the annual Riverdaz event on the Great Miami adjacent to Miami University Hamilton. In the photo below, Dennis Mullins, FC of 5-4 and the author are shown during a break discussing boating safety with the help of Oscar, the faithful man overboard dummy.
